Kate Greene is an artist whose work explores the edges of perception, using photography as a tool to question visibility, historical residue, and the unseen. Rooted in a feminist engagement with landscape and material, her practice traces signals, remnants, and transmissions that resist fixed form or stable meaning.
Greene was named a recipient of the Creative Capital State of the Art Prize in 2026. Her work has been exhibited at venues including the Center for Maine Contemporary Art, the deCordova Museum, the Worcester Art Museum, the RISD Museum, the Visual Arts Center at UT Austin. She holds an MFA from the Yale School of Art and a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and has taught extensively across institutions including MassArt, RISD, and the Hartford Art School Graduate Program.
She currently lives and works in Rockland, Maine.
